Greetings,

I would like to put one particular youtube video on the home screen of a senior person's iPad (who needs the video easily accessible)

The standard way of doing this would be to:

1. Go to the youtube video in question on the Safari app
2. Click the share symbol, and then chose "add to home screen".

However, for some reason, when I try this for this YouTube video, the URL is automatically cut short, so that only the root URL (www.youtube.com) remains in the home screen shortcut.

So when the person in questions tries to use this shortcut, she just ends up on the youtube mainpage...

Is there anyone with a solution to this?

Thanks a lot!

Hello and welcome.
  • What model iPad?
  • What version of iOS/iPadOS?
  • Are you signed into YouTube in Safari?
I just tried this on my iPad, and I get the same result. It may be best to either add a bookmark to the video in Safari itself, or use the YouTube app and the Save for later function.
