How can I get my iMovies onto a thumb drive to show with a DVD player or just plug into a TV?

Export it to where? There are three options shown in iMovie: Export movie, Export Using Quick Time, and Export Final Cut, plus iDVD. I have used iDVD on some projects and burned DVDs that worked in other players but now want to use a thumb drive. Thanks for helping out.

I did that and the movie shows on the drive as an ....m4v If I try to play it on my mac it opens flip player. If I plug into the USB on the DVD player or TV it is not recognized. However, I can show the individual slides included in the movie.
