Hello,
Macs do get ransomware alerts, normally when browsing the Internet. Of course, they are all fake, and are usually caused by third-party software, browser extensions, or browser plug-ins. Pretty much all of them can be removed using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac.

-What version of OS X?
-Have you had any issues?
