Problem with audacity

Hi

I've been trying to record spoken words with audacity.

I use a griffin imic.
Microphone is plugged into "in". Side button is set to "mic".

Mac sound settings and audacity settings are shown in the attached screenshots.

With these settings I can record sounds and voice, but the volume is extremely low.

What could be the problem?

In the 2nd image, when you talk into the mic, what levels are you seeing? The input volume slider is set to a fairly low level, have you tried increasing it?

the Mic must be to low powered to drive the iMic input, this is often the case, I always use a preamp to bring the levels up to Line levels.
