Hello folks. I have an iMac [ 21.5 inch ] late 2013 running El Capitan 10.11.5.
I mostly use my mac for email ,browsing the internet, sports ,news ,etc..
I also use it to run Kodi. for streaming movies and tv.

Hi jimmynosuace! Welcome to this place. You will find a number of folks here who are very knowledgeable about Macs, and they are more than willing to help.

Sounds like except for Kodi, you and I use our Macs for similar purposes.

Also, glad you stated the exact Mac model you have, and the Mac OS you are using. Just a couple of questions/suggestions:

1. Are you making backups to an external device? Time Machine is OK for that, but a backup/cloning program like SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cloner is better.

2. Do you perform any "routine" disk cleanup/maintenance/repairs? That is important also. If you use Disk Utility for that, to do a complete job, you would need to do that "externally". That is where a bootable backup made via SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cloner is excellent for that. (If you have a more robust Disk maintenance/repair program like TechTool Pro or Disk Warrior, that is even better (still along with the backup)).
