Mac Laptop Shuts off Violently

It's a given:

I click on any video on youtube.com or CNN.com or anywhere and my computer's fan starts to whir real loud and in less than 2 minutes, the computer just dies. shuts right off!

I've been living with this problem for over 2 years but not being able to view video on my laptop is very annoying.

stats:
It's a macbook pro, 2 GHz Intel Core Duo, OSX Version 10.5.8
