iMovie Acting Strange

I took a bunch of video clips in a variety of formats, opened them in QuickTime 7.5.?, and flattened them into MOVs using the SAVE AS COMMAND. The individual files look and play great in QT, but when I go to import them into iMovie, they are grayed out and not available for import. So about HALF of what I have converted for import to iMovie are simply unrecognizable by iMovie's IMPORT MOVIES command.

Can anyone shed any light on this matter? Thanks in advance for those with ideas.

you are using iMovie '08, correct? Close iMovie. Go into the Event folder that contains the clip in question. Delete the corresponding thumbnail video clip (I believe it is in a sub-folder). Then re-open iMovie - it should scan through your Library and re-generate the thumbnail for the video clip. Does it show up correctly in your library after that?
