How to install new memory in my macbook?

I was thinking about installing a 512 thing of memory in my macbook (yes, that's right, a "thing of memory"), and I've heard you can do this yourself. Or have a knowledgeable friend do it.

So, is it easy, and just as important, where should I buy a new 512 memory card - seems like they're only $60-100, and Apple will charge me $200.

I bought another 512 card from someone who removed their's soon after buying a new macbook . . . so it should be original equipment. Hopefully it'll work out . . .
