G4 ADC won't go beyond Apple. . Help?

Hi, I have a G4 "audio digital" machine. (only 466 mhz). It's been good to me, until today. when I try to power it up i get the gray apple page and no further, I tried resetting it, but that didn't do any good. Clearly my abilities are somewhat limited in the realm of hardware. Any suggestions of what to do, or even what the issue might be. Thanks

If you have you OSX disk you can put in the drive and boot off the cd ...
to boot of the cd hold the C key during startup ...

The goal is to run disk utility and fixs permissions.

It should start up and ask you which and I believe the next screen will have the tool bar at the top with a button called utilities and disk utilities.

This is if my memory serves me right... See if fixing the permissions corrects the problem

Thank you, that did the trick. The desktop is up and running again. I hope this doesn't mean it will permanently die soon. Thanks so much.
