In my mac mini, running sonoma, when I hit the control key, it does the same as the F3 does. It shows all the active windows and workspaces. I don't want that. I want the control key back so that I can do control-c. I looked into settings and then keyboard, it doesn't look like something is using the control key.

Any help much appreciated.

It sounds like your Control key is mapped to the Mission Control function. Here’s a quick way to fix it:

  1. Open System Settings: Go to System Settings on your Mac.
  2. Keyboard Shortcuts: Navigate to Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts.
  3. Mission Control: Select Mission Control from the left sidebar.
  4. Check Shortcuts: Make sure the Control key is not assigned to any of the Mission Control actions. If it is, uncheck it or change it to a different key.
This should restore your Control key to its normal function for shortcuts like Control-C.

Hope this helps!
