EMail Backing Up ?

Hello,

I use MAIL on my mac for my eMails.

Have a Folder in MAIL where I put important items.
Would hate to lose them.

If I export them to another Folder via "xport Mailbox", it's pretty much gibberish that has been saved.

What's the best way of backing up a Folder in Mail ?
Presumably to another folder, I imagine.
