El Capitan Download

Hi,

So, I tried downloading El Capitan and it downloaded successfully, but when it asked my to restart, it froze. I thought it was taking awhile to initiate but it never restarted. I shut down my Mac holding the power button. When I turned on my Mac, the installing process never initiated. I then went to the App Store and the button in purchases says downloaded and it's whited out. It doesn't give me the option to install and when I try to re-download, it won't work. Help, please!

(I'm using a MacBook Pro 17-inch, Mid 2010, running Yosemite 10.10.5)

-Can you see the Install OS X El Capitan app in the Applications folder?
-How much free hard drive space do you have?
