Downloads wont open, help !

I have a mac version 10.4.8, when i download like a game etc. it opens up with applicattions such as entourage,quicktime or you can pick one like safari, word, etc. but the game wont open up or display propperly, does anyone know why this is, and what applicattions are downloads suppossed to be open with....? please help....its a real pain in the buttttt....

When you download the file, before you try to open, what is the extension associated with it? The extension is what follows the period, e.g., entourage.app, spreadsheet.xls, etc. Generally when one downloads files, they came in a package with common extensions such as .dmg, .sit, etc. What is your file's extension? Most downloads on a Mac can be opened with Stuffit. It's a free application that opens most compressed files.

it is exe it says example : download.exe

Hello, exe's are for Windows not Mac.
