Deleted all files on 250GB, but 65GB still in use???

Okay, I recently backed all my files up on my external and even went and deleted all files I put on my computer as well as the applications I installed on it as well. However, for some reason, the computer is still telling me that I have 65GB in use. I only have 185GB free.

Anyone know what may be the issue and how I can clear it?

How big is your Library folder?

Did you empty your trash while the external was connected? That's an essential step with all external drives, USB sticks, etc
