Hi!

So I'm trying to transfer effectively my entire hard drive from a mid-2009 MacBook Pro to a new MacBook Air running Big Sur. Attempting to transfer everything first to an external hard drive then to the new MacBook Air is gonna likely...about 14 decades. For whatever reason it takes likely over three days to transfer a single gigabyte now.

Any advice?

Thanks!

Hi,

-Which version of OS X/macOS on the 2009 MBP?
-Are you using Migration Assistant?
-What connection type between the two?

Hi Chris! Thank you the reply! Sorry for the delay; I've had a LOT happen lately.

the 2009 MacBookPro runs on OS X 10.11.x "El Capitan" (ha).

No, I've not used it; should I? I didn't do anything to connect the two. I don't want to overwrite the existing content on the new MacBook either.
