I've been duped. Bought an old iMac 2010, just got it home and tried to turn on but shows a circle with a diagonal line through it. Anyone help?

Hello and welcome,

The screen you are seeing simply means that the iMac couldn't find a disk with a version of OS X to startup from. The person you purchased it from probably just erased the hard drive to protect their data. You will need to install OS X. If you didn't get any install discs with the iMac, you can always take it to an Apple Store and have them run full hardware diagnostics and install a fresh copy of OS X.
