Slow stream with out a paddle

Just changed from Cable network provider to a phone based provider! Now only my wives mac will not stream as it did prior. When she stats a TV show on the internet she gets a circle that keeps spinning and will spin for ever instead of watching a show. 1) It is and has always been a wireless network. 2) My IBM equipment ie. tablet and laptop run normally. My question is there a box that needs to be checked or something in the Mac that needs attention. We have the Mac for streaming online overseas TV, and the picture quality. I'm an IBM guys so any fix is going to require simple instructions, for a non mac user. Our OS is 10X, model MC508LL/A.
