Saving Files problem

I have just bought a 27" imac after using Windows for 20 years.

If I saved a picture in Windows named 'house' and I wanted to save another one called 'house2' as soon as I started typing h o u etc the word 'house' would come up and I would just click on it and put '2' etc at the end.

This doesn't seem to be happening on my new Mac.

I would be grateful for some advive.

Hi and welcome,

You want to use "save as" not save from the file menu while holding down the alt key, as snap shot.
This gives you location / file name / image type etc. So if you save the first image as house then the next will be called house and you can alter it.

Thank you for your help, I tried and nothing happened. I have attached a screenshot from windows to show what I mean.
The MAC seems perfect apart from this problem.

Must be missing something as your image shows file names following on, IE (file name) Doc then (file name) Doc1.

Since, you have previously saved the file with name 'House' so it is giving you the similar option. Apple & Windows are different platforms so you may notice many changes.
