Poor Battery Life

I just upgraded to iPad 10th generation running iPadOS 17.2. The battery drains much faster than expected. I don’t have any programs running in the background and close all windows when done. I really only use it to check emails and games on various apps. Is this a known issue? Any suggestions on how to address this?

How long does the battery last?
Can you reduce the screen brightness?
Are Bluetooth and WIFI switched on?
