Hi Everyone,

I'd really appreciate a little help with a problem I've been struggling with the last few days. I have a 24" iMac with 2.33 Ghz Intel Dual Core with 2 GB of RAM, and I'm running OS X 10.6.8.

A couple of days ago my computer crashed and I got the infamous kernel panic message ("you need to restart your computer..."). I can only boot my system up using safe mode. If I try to use my external drive or the installation disk that came with the computer I get the kernel panic message every time.

While in safe mode I've verified the disk, and there's nothing wrong with it apparently. I want to format everything, because it's been a long time, but this doesn't seem to be an option for me at the moment due to these other problems. Here's a copy of a part of the kernel panic message (which is a lot longer):

panic(cpu 1 caller 0x001A407F): Unresolved kernel trap (CPU 1, Type 14=page fault), registers:

Anyways, I'd really appreciate someone else's take on this, because I'm kind of out of ideas at the moment!

Kernel Panics meant there is something serious wrong with your Mac. I would take it to an Apple Service Centre near you.
