IMAP Password failure

My IMAP password on my MAC mail has stopped being accepted. It accepts the SMTP password for the same mail account. Ideas Please

Hello,

-Who is your email provider?
-This is in the Mail app, correct?
-If in Mail, do you have more than one email account setup?

My e-mail provider is IInet.net.au
The problem is in my Apple Mail.
I do have more than one e-mail account and the other three are working perfectly.
Also on the faulty account, the STMP password is working fine it is just the IMAP that is not.

OK, thanks for the additional information.

You could try the following:
-Quit the Mail app
-In  > System Preferences... > Internet Accounts, click on that account to select it
-Change the password to something else and press Enter/Return
-It will spin for a while, then return an error that it is Unable to verify account or password.
-Enter the correct password and press Enter/Return
-If it accepts it without error, quit System Preferences and try the Mail app to see if the issue is resolved
