A few days ago a window started popping up asking for my iCloud password. I've never used iCloud and don't have a password for it, so I went to my System Prefs, clicked on iCloud and signed out. Since then, my Contacts icon in Mail are empty. I can still email everyone, but get no info when I click on contacts. Somehow iCloud must be connected to Contacts. I'm in OSX 10.9.5.
Help....Sandy

Hello and welcome.

It does sound like you have an iCloud account. Normally it is created when you first setup your Mac.

Just a few questions for you:

-When you signed out of iCloud, did it prompt you for a password?
-Do you happen to remember the email account that was listed in the iCloud preference pane?
-Did it ask you if you wanted to keep or delete your contacts from the Mac?

If so, then your contacts were stored in iCloud, and they should repopulate if you sign back in.
