Calendar sync 1-way only

I am retired, and have a pretty quiet diary. However, yesterday I entered 3 new appointments on to this MacBook Air (OSX 10.11.6), and proceeded to use iTunes to sync Calendar from my MBA to my iPhone 5S (iOS10.3.3) -- or so I thought, because none of the new appointments appeared in my iPhone.

Acting on a suggestion in another forum, I created an imaginary appointment in my iPhone. Instantly, and without any other action on my part, the 3 new appointments appeared in my iPhone Calendar.

Can anyone tell me why this might be happening, and what I may do to restore order ?

Hello,

It could be a couple of things.

-Check to see what your default calendars are on the MacBook Air and iPhone.
-Make sure you entered the appointment in one of the calendars that will sync.
-Do you have an iCloud account, and if so, is it signed in on both the MacBook Air and the iPhone?
