Hi,

I used to use Wondershare's "iTube Studio" app to download utube videos , because it could also download subtitles and it would transfer to a usb stick and watch on my tv. My hearing is now so bad i am almost legally deaf..

the program seems to have been 'turned off' and is no longer supported by the creators, and was a subscription items, but is no longer supported and no longer will download any videos. it was great and was a 'on click' item.

they offer a 'new program' that they say does the same, but it is a 2 step downloader, copying the url and the pasting into the program. and the subtitles now do not offer the ability to convert foreign languages to english. dam.

does any other Mac fans download utube videos..? I hat the modern "Intelligent" TV i bought, and the tv news is depressing, and the movies and Tv shows boring...

regards, Sandy

My “go to” app for YouTube downloads, or any video url, is MacX YouTube Downloader.app. It’s free but every time it finishes downloading a queue of video urls, you will be connected to their offer for MacX Video Converter Pro.app. You can always decline, of course, even though I eventually bought it only because I use the free app so much, as evidenced by the thousands of videos (not just from YouTube) that I have accumulated over the years. It’s free, nothing to lose…

Also works perfectly in macOS Sequoia.

Hello and welcome.
  • How is it not working?
  • Any error messages?
  • Which version of macOS?
  • Which version of iTube Studio?
iTube Studio 7.4.7.2 is still working normally on macOS 15.3 Sequoia on my Mac mini (M1, 2020).

Hi,

My bad...seems iTube Studio 7.4.7.2 on macOS 15.3/15.3.1 Sequoia is no longer working here either. Hadn't used it for a bit, so I fired it up and tried it. iTube Studio 7.4.7.2 does still work on a Mac mini (2018) running macOS 10.14.6 Mojave. Maybe there was a change in macOS Sequoia that prevents it from working?

Sorry about the bad information,

Like I mentioned before, my choice for downloading not just YouTube videos, but practically any video on the Mac, is MacX YouTube Downloader.app. Downloader is free, and MacX Video Converter Pro.app is paid, but unless you want to perform video editing and conversion, you won’t need it. I just updated to macOS Sequoia 15.3.1 and the downloader still works with it.

Or you can just wait for iTube Studio to be updated to work with 15.3.1 and hope it will keep working when 15.3.2 comes out.

The way it doesn't work is that after you hit "Paste URL" it will show the "Analyzing" message and just go on and on and on analyzing until finally it simply shows an error message saying, "Failed to download. Play the video on your browser and try again." This is for every video. I'm pretty bummed out. I checked for updates and it says that the current version is "Up to date."

I use OBS. Records any thing on screen including system audio. Been downloading from YouTube for about five years. It's free.

Thank you for the information. It seems there are multiple websites offering this when I google it. Is there a specific one you recommend? I typed in what you suggested, but there were many options. Thank You.

Here is the MacUpdate.com link:

If you need more information before downloading the app, click first on the “Developer website” link. I can’t remember if I purchased the app immediately, or if they offer any kind of test period. Personally, this is my #1 video downloader app and have been using it exclusively for a number of years now.

Sandy, I can understand how frustrating it must be to lose a program that worked so well for you. For downloading YouTube videos on a Mac, you might want to try alternatives like 4K Video Downloader, which can handle subtitles and allow you to transfer files to a USB. As for finding support, you might consider checking out bt business contact number for further help or options.
