If I install El Capitan on my iMac"
Model Identifier: iMac12,2
Processor Name: Intel Core i5
Processor Speed: 3.1 GHz
and want to boot off an external drive with 10.6.8 will El Capitan let me. I've been told that something in 10.11.6 will not allow this. I have used Carbon Copy Clone of my existing hard drive and have booted of off the externals and used them with no issues. So it does work.
My logic is that I have older software, no longer made and not 10.11 compatible, that I use on occasions, but not as often as my email, etc.
thanks
