Why does FLV download as text?

Sorry, this is my first post and Google searching this question didn't yield my answer.

Trying to download what I believe is an FLV (video) file, but it just shows up as a huge text file of gibberish. Thanks.

That would be because the Mac has no App registered to play FLV files.
Flash is no really designed for download playing.

Try dropping it on the Safari Icon.

Ahhh, I figured it out! I added ".flv" to the end of the title and now it plays on VLC. I've never had to do that before....
