When opening a Word file it says:

There is not enough memory or disk space to convert this document

How do I remedy this?

-Does the file you are trying to open have a .docx extension?
-Do you have the latest updates installed for Office?

I have seen this happen before when trying to open a Word document from a later version of Office. There have been a few updates to Office (latest is 11.6.6) and the Open XML File Format Converter (latest is 1.2.1) that address this issue.
