What is this port?

On the back of my monitor there is a port between DC in and HDMI. It looks like it ought to be a sound out or pass thru. It would be very handy if it were. The manual says nothing about it. It accepts a miniplug, although it seems a bit wobbly. No sound in headphones. Anyone know whatsit?

It does look like an audio/headphone port. Maybe if you are connected with HDMI, there may be audio controls in the monitor's onscreen control panel?

Good suggestion, I am connected by HDMI, but the manual has no user control relating to audio, nor is there any mention of audio. I think I'm chasing a wild goose.

It may just be that they use the same port connection board part in other monitor models that do have audio capability.

You could always contact their customer support and get a definitive answer.
