What does this little icon mean?

Just today I have been getting these strange icons on the corners of every finder window I open. Anybody know what they are? :confused:

I'm running OSX 10.6.8

I have and it seems to have got rid of them. It's done it a couple of times before, I was more intrigued to what it was really...

its memory corruption.

Are you using Microsoft or Adobe products, if you are ensure you quit them and no just let them sit in the background, also log out and back in regularly.

Have a separate Admin Account and ensure your working account is a standard account.

You may also want to ensure you have a full current backup, I recommend TimeMachine.
