Video download programme

Hi, folks, does anyone know of a programme for downloading videos eg. Facebook, movies, etc. that does not warn that 'this file could harm your computer' when you open it. Tried Mac Video Downloader but I think it might be responsible for persistent 'spinning wheel'. I'm new to Mini Mac and had to do a 'factory condition reinstall' to get rid of that blasted wheel---drove me mad as it became worse. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, Cory. Running Sierra and did a factory restore which solved the problem-------though it took four hours on the phone talking to three Apple tech guys ! lol
