USB takes a long time to recognize.

This just started recently. Used to recognize in 5 - 10 sec, now it takes 45 - 1 min. I have made no changes, except D/L V10.13.1. I'm considering off loading all my data to an external storage drive, reformatting my system drive and reinstalling the OS. I do that ~once or so a year with my Win machines. I've had the Mac 4 years, so I know it's loaded with krap and leftovers and needs a clean slate. If I decide that I'll most likely be back for some help.
Right now the USB issue needs to be fixed. Any help greatly appreciated.

Another issue with High Sierra? Does this happen with any USB port on your iMac?

What OS did you "upgrade" from? And how was the time to recognize a USB device with that prior OS?

When you are ready to do the cleanup/install "older" Mac OS (Sierra?), let us know, and we can help you. Just make sure you are making backups to an external device.
