I have a rather bazaar problem. My 2017 27" iMac will shut down at any time, irrespective of what I am doing, and will refuse to restart. I first thought it was blowing the fuse in the plug, as it would start after I had replaced the fuse. So I replaced the fuse each time, often 5 times a day! However, it transpired that the fuses were not blowing, it was unplugging the machine that was the 'reset'. It is essential I unplug the machine, then give if 15 minutes or so before attempting a restart. The longer I wait, the longer it seems to run before shuting down again.
This was the problem I was having three years ago. Then the problem just disappeared. Now it has come back again.

Hello and welcome.

Sounds like it may be a thermal condition.

First things to try:
  • Check to see if there is any dust in the ventilations slots - behind the foot
  • Reset SMC
  • Reset NVRAM
  • Try another outlet
