unblock a block this ad

Sorry, Im new to computing (old guy)
I tried to remove a small strip that came up on my screen that said (make igoogle my home page) I right clicked and was looking for delete, but I saw block this ad. I clicked it and the whole browser page disappeared leaving a blue screen with the browser bars or whatever you call them at the top. When I reload I can see the Igoogle page for a second then its gone. Thanks for replying, I hope you can help. If you need to call me my number is 972-312-1514 Landi
