Two Apple ID's

Somehow I have got 2 Apple ID's. The one I want uses my new email address and works fine. But I need to get rid of the old one which used my old email address and has a password I have forgotten. I Messenger(?) seems to want to use that one. Is there a way I can remove it please?

Hello,

You should be able to go to Preferences > Accounts in Messages and simply click the Sign Out button. Then, enter your newer Apple ID and password and be all set.

Note: If you have any purchases with the old Apple ID, they cannot be transferred to the new Apple ID. You would have to get that password reset to ensure access to those purchases going forward.
