Trash

Mac desktop. Empty trash--clicked on that and it's been emptying trash for 2 days--still over 140,000 items to delete!! How do i stop that process?

Try logging out/in or rebooting to halt the process then open Trash & remove files so it doesn't have so much to delete in the one go ... just add smaller amounts.
