SOLVED Trash slow to empty

27" iMac, Catalina (10.15.7) late 2015. 24gb RAM 3.2ghz i5

As above, with just a few items in the trash approx 10 minutes to empty.
Any thoughts?

After another frustrating 45 minutes waiting for the trash to empty I removed the Trash directory and re built it from the terminal
all working OK now.
