Hi

I have an older Thunderbolt monitor that works like a champ but over time has developed a frayed cable. It is difficult to find anyone who will repair this so my question is, how difficult is the for someone who doesn't have any experience repairing such things? I'll replace the current one with a USB4 if that's possible, If not I have an adapter.

Thanks for any advice you might have!
Terry

Hi Terry,

You will need to replace the whole cable assembly that has the MacBook power cable as well.

The part number for the Display Cable Assembly is 922-9941.

You can do a google search for this. Best price will probably be on eBay.

Here are the instructions on how to replace the cable: Apple Thunderbolt Display Thunderbolt & MagSafe Cable Replacement.

You may be able to find a local Mac repair shop that would be willing to replace the cable once you have it.
