Target display mode not working

Hello,my question is about using my mid2010 27 inch iMac as a monitor for my recently purchased xbox one.
I have purchased the minidisplay port to hdmi adapter. Inserted the hdmi cable in it and the other side of hdmi cable is in my xbox. I have quit all aplications and used cmd+f2 multiple times but there is no change. Maybe you can help me with this and maybe i am doing something wrong. Thanks
