Sort photos from two different cameras

I can't time sync iPhone pictures with a digital camera(times are correct) in an iPhoto album.

-Which model Mac?
-Which model iPhone?
-Which version of OS X and iOS?
-Which version of iPhoto/Photos?
-Not sure what you mean by time sync the photos?

MacBook Pro - 10.12.5
iPhone 6 - 10.3.2
iPhoto 2.0(3150.4.120

By “time sync” I thought that iPhoto would sort the photo’s in order of the time taken such that a photo taken by the iPhone and my camera at the same time would be displayed in order. I have done the sort and there is some interleaving, maybe by date, but not time. Maybe iPhoto cannot do more.
