SMTP server rejected password.

Hello and thankyou in advance for your assistance.

I've got the shits big time.
My Mac Book Pro email has died.

The message I receive is - Enter Password for Account "smtp.mac.com:[email protected]"

I'm using my apple password, but alas .... baa bow!!!.

Searched and searched - no luck.

First, what Mac OS are you running? And what EMail program are you using?

Secondly, do you have an IMAP Account, or a POP account? Also, who is your ISP?

Third, do you have a recent backup?

Fourth, when did this start occurring?

Don't know sorry. How do I locate this information?
ISP is the Australian NBN.
I use Time machine but have never restored a back up.
