I've got an iMac (2.5 GHz, Intel core i5) that takes forever to copy files to a flash drive connected to the USB 2 port. I'd like to copy a large file (about 10 GB) to the 64 GB flash. Even after 8 hours of trying, almost nothing has been copied. The message is that it will take some 6 - 8 days to complete the copy. Backing up the system to a flash drive is also hideously slow. Also supposed to take many days. Is there some way to fix that slow speed?

Hi,

I'd like to copy a large file
Yes Flash drives are defiantly not the best device as they are slow with file sizes like that.

Backing up the system to a flash drive is also hideously slow.

Personally I would recommend you use a 1or2 TB portable external hard drive, they are not expensive, and data transfer is extremely quick.
Full system back up generally take 15/20 minuets for me.
