SOLVED Selected URLs keep dropping off

Right out of the blue my iPhone 7 has developed a strange problem. I use Safari to search the Internet and the problem is that when I select, say, Fox News the page comes up and then disappears. In other cases, a page comes up for a few seconds and then keeps repeating the operation endlessly. In a third option a notice appears: "A problem repeatedly occurred on "https://...." This also occurs in a social media app. e.g. when, say, a news item is displayed and I click on it to get the actual URL.

Hello,

-Which version of iOS?
-Have you power cycled your iPhone?
-Quit all apps, then Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data

If those don't help:
-Try a different Wi-Fi network
-Settings > Genereal > Reset > Reset Network Settings
