Search domains, is there a recommended list?

My iPad2 changed the "search domains" to attlocal from whatever it was. Seems like this occurred when my iPad commenced its funky actions. Dropping network connection, going to black or dark grey screen when I go for a new website etc. is there a preferred list of search domains?

Is attlocal not AT&T services?

If your on a home network then local is preferd as it makes your activity on your local network the priority.

It is apparently WHOIS and possibly other entities grouped into attlocal.net. But I am experiencing more problems with Safari than I had till about a month ago.
