Saving webpages

Recently, any webpages that I save as "complete" show up fine on the desktop and turn into html as soon as I put them in a folder. I don't know why this happened -- was there an update that messed this up? MacOS Big Sur 11.6. Thank you.

Hello and welcome.

Not an issue I am familiar with.

• I assume you are using Safari and are saving the web page using File > Save As.. > Web Archive, correct?
• Does it change when moved to any folder, all folders, or a specific folder?
