I use a iMac from mid 2007 maxing out with OSX 10.11.6. When I upgraded to El Capitan, I was forced to move from iPhoto to Photos and the photos did not fare well (heads cut off, etc). I am about to buy a later model iMac. What is the best way to save my original iPhoto library from 2017 before the switch to Photos? I back up with Time Machine sporadically so should be able to find a date when iPhoto was still the photo application. Could I put the library on a thumb drive and see if the photos can be saved by a newer computer? Unfortunately iPhoto was running v 7ish and I did not know to upgrade to 9 before moving to Photos. If this is pie in the sky, is there any way to save the iPhoto photos?
