I started using 10.10 from last few days. Things went well. I used Safari couple of times but today when I tried to launch Safari, I got this error. Safari error screenshot http://imgur.com/TLVYIOB

Do I have to reinstall OS X 10.10.

Are you using 10.10, or 10.10.1? If it's 10.10, you should update to 10.10.1. You can get it from here:

Also, a newer version of Safari, 8.0.2, came out last month. You can get it from here:

I had click on the App store to know what needs to be updated. It showed 10.10, Safari, iTunes etc. I restarted my Mac and it started to install those updates. I saw the progress bar being updated. But when I got into the desktop and checked About this Mac, it still showed 10.10 and not 10.10.1. Launched Safari and again the above mentioned message appeared. I tried again to update but same issue remains. What am I doing wrong?

Latest versions just for clarification:

Mac OS X Yosemite - 10.10.1
Safari - 8.0.2

If the updates are not applying, try using Disk Utility to Repair Disk Permissions, restart, then re-try the updates. If the updates show as applied in the App Store, download the updater manually here and run it:

OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 Update

As to the Safari issue, try deleting the preference list:

1. In Finder, hold the Option key down and click Go in the menu bar, then select Library from the drop-down.
2. Double-click Preferences folder.
3. Delete all files that start with com.apple.Safari

If that doesn't allow Safari to open, ket us know.

As Cory suggested, you can download the updates yourself. In fact, whenever possible (most of the time), I download Apple updates by themselves, versus going through software update.

Additionally, the link that Cory provided for OS 10.10.1 does not contain version 8.0.2 of Safari. That came out about a month later. You can get version 8.0.2 from here:

Update: Version 10.10.2 of Yosemite came out yesterday, and it contains a new version, 8.0.3, of Safari. If you "still" are using 10.10, you can get the Combo Updater to go from 10.10 to 10.10.2. The Combo Updater is available directly from here:

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1786

Again, you can ONLY use that is you have 10.10. If instead you have 10.10.1, then you can either use Software Update, or get the 10.10.2 updater as a stand alone file. You can get that from here:

http://support.apple.com/downloads/#macos

That is the page on Apple's site containing updates relating to various operating systems. The one for 10.10.2 is located (for now) at the beginning of the second row.
