Im new to this site but desperate for help. My cursor keeps disappearing, the screen im on, greys out and i have to click on it to continue. Its like someone else has control. Whats happening, can anyone help?

Have you checked your Screen Saver and Energy Saver settings?

All those are fine. The focus is switching on and off every few seconds from the screen im working on, theres nothing else open.

What does this mean?

Check Activity Monitor to see what else is taking CPU cycles.

If i have a program window on the screen the surround is a mid grey colour and the window is active, after a couple of seconds the window surround becomes very pale and the window is inactive, if i leave it a couple of seconds it comes back to being the active window again.Nothing else comes to the foreground and nothing moves and the program displayed in the top left hand corner of the screen doesnt change. Its infuriating
