Problems w/High Sierra downloaded to Mac Book Pro

I downloaded High Sierra to update my 2012 Mac Book Pro. I shut down the computer and the next morning its frozen on the opening page(with mac logo and line of downloaded material frozen). What do I do?

Hello and welcome.

Initially, it sounds like the hard drive may be full. Did you install it after downloading?

You could try starting up while holding the Space Bar...that will startup in Safe Mode, which bypasses a lot of Login Items and other non-essential files. If that is succussful, see how much free space is left on the drive. If it is less than a GB or two, then OS X doesn't have enough free space to startup and run properly.

I shut down the Mac and rebooted and am in the applications.Yes I downloaded and went directly to install. I did check the disk space and have 154 meg left. However the Mac is eternally slow now. What do you suggest?
