Problem with Mac Mail

Hi

I tried to send an email (via Mac Mail) which had several attachments and thus was very large. It now seems stuck in the 'system'. Every time I delete it, it returns via 'Recovered message' folder. I've tried to delete via the BT site (my internet provider) but the email doesn't appear there. I can't use my email (either inward or outwards) due to this email being 'stuck'! I'm using a Macbook Pro running OS 10.7.
Any help much appreciated.

Hello and welcome.

-Can you get the Mail app to run at all?
-Where are you deleting the email from - the Drafts or Outbox?
-Do you know if the account was created as an IMAP or POP account in Mail?
-Do you have a lot of saved email folders on the Mac?

The email doesn't show on the BT site because it was created on the Mac, not the email server itself.

Many thanks for replying.
I have managed to sort out the problem by re-setting the mail preferences and not saving any messages until the rogue email disappeared. I then re-set the preferences as they were formerly. Thus far, this has worked!
