Plug iPad into iMac and get "ipad not charging" message on ipad. Why.?

Hi,
Plug iPad into iMac, to transfer over photos, and i get "ipad not charging" message on ipad. Why.?

using apple usb3 to USBc cable.

pull the cable out and push back in and the charging symbol flashes up but then goes back to "not charging".

puzzled.

This could be 1 of 2 things..

Either the cable has gone bad, sometimes just reversing the cabe in the iPad will fix this.
Or, the port does not have enough power to charge the iPad. If you have charged the iPad before on the iMac then restarting should fix this.

Hi, thanks. yes I was thinking similar. but it is a mint new apple cable.

will take the acbel to apple next time i am near their main shop, and see.
